The Giants’ lineup just got a lot better with the acquisition of RF Carlos Beltran from the Mets in exchange for minor league prospect Zack Wheeler.

Here are Beltran’s career numbers:  1,863 hits, 381 doubles, 69 triples, 295 homeruns, 1128 RBI’s, 292 stolen bases, and a .282 average.

The Giants had 2 shutouts in the World Series. This was the most by any team since the Orioles did it to the Dodgers in 1966.

Players who had 2 World Series-winning hits like Edgar Renteria: Joe DiMaggio, Lou Gehrig, and Yogi Berra.

ChampionsThe San Francisco Giants beat the Texas Rangers 3-1 on Monday night to win their first World Series since moving to San Francisco.  The Giants won the World Series 4 games to 1.

The Lincecum vs. Lee matchup was won again by Tim Lincecum, as he finished the game with 8.0 innings pitched, 3 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks, 10 strikeouts, and 1 homerun for an ERA of 3.29.

Edgar Renteria’s 3-run homerun made him the hero of the night, as well as MVP of the World Series.

The Giants’ next game will be… wait, there is no next game, we won it all!!!

Madison BumgarnerMadison Bumgarner might be having one of the best postseasons ever as a rookie.

Bumgarner dominated the Rangers Sunday night in Game 4 of the World Series to help the Giants win 4-0. He finished the game with 8 innings pitched, 3 hits, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts, 106 total pitches.

Brian Wilson came in to close out the 9th and the Rangers didn’t stand a chance.

The Giants had enough offense going to win easily, getting homers from both Aubrey Huff (2-run) and Buster Posey (solo, DEEP center field).

Game 5 will be Monday, November 1st at 4:30pm(pt) in Texas where the Rangers will face elimination. Pitching matchup is Tim Lincecum vs. Cliff Lee.

Matt Cain was spectacular, as usual. Cain has a 0.00 ERA in this postseason. His final line tonight was 7.2 innings pitched, 4 hits, 0 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts.

The Giants offense was clicking again as they now have scored 20 runs through 2 games of the World Series.

Edgar Renteria got the bats going with a solo homerun in the bottom of the 5th. The Giants then went on to score 8 more runs, 7 of which came in the 8th inning off multiple Rangers relievers.

The series heads to Texas for Game 3 on Saturday at 3:30pm(pt) and the pitching matchup is Sanchez vs. Lewis.

Juan UribeThe Giants broke out their bats when it was least expected, knocking Cliff Lee out of Game 1 of the World Series Wednesday night.

The Giants’ offense combined for 11 runs on 14 hits. Juan Uribe hit the only homerun of the game, but it was a big 3-run shot off of reliever Darren O’Day.

Tim Lincecum got off to a rocky start, but eventually settled down and finished with 5.2 innings pitched, 8 hits, 4 earned runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts for an ERA of 6.35 (Cliff Lee’s ERA was 11.57).

The Giants now lead the Rangers 1-0 in the World Series. Game 2 will be on Thursday, October 27th, at 4:57pm(pt). Pitching matchup will be Wilson vs. Cain.

UribeJuan Uribe’s solo homerun put the Giants ahead 3-2 in the 8th inning as they held on to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS to advance to the 2010 World Series against the Texas Rangers.

Jonathan Sanchez was knocked out of the game early, but the Giants’ bullpen came through and Brian Wilson closed out the game by striking out Ryan Howard.

Since the National League won this year’s All-Star Game the Giants will host the Rangers for Game 1 of the World Series in San Francisco on Wednesday night at 7:30pm(et).

Matt Cain was solid as usual as he shut out the Phillies through 7 innings on Tuesday.  Javier Lopez and Brian Wilson came in to finish the rest, as the Giants beat the Phillies 3-0 to take a 2-1 lead in the NLCS.

Cody Ross came through again with an RBI single in the 4th to get the Giants rolling.

Game 4 in San Francisco will be on Wednesday, October 20th, at 4:30pm(pt).  The pitching matchup is Blanton vs. Bumgarner.

The Giants defeated the Phillies in Philadelphia on Saturday 4-3, taking a 1-0 lead in the National League Championship Series.

Tim Lincecum seemed to have won the Lincecum vs. Halladay matchup, finishing the day with 7.0 innings pitched, 8 strikeouts, and gave up 6 hits, 3 walks, 3 earned runs, and 2 homeruns.

Game 2 of the NLCS will be on Sunday October 17th at 8pm(et) and the pitching matchup will be Jonathan Sanchez vs. Roy Oswalt.

Giants Beat Braves 3-2 to Win NLDS

Cody RossThe Giants knocked the Braves out of the playoffs today as they won 3-2 in Atlanta to close out the NLDS.  The Giants won the series 3-1.

Madison Bumgarner was solid in his postseason debut.  He got the win and struck out 5 while only walking 1.

Cody Ross came through huge with a solo homerun in the 6th inning off Derek Lowe.  Ross had 2 RBI’s and Juan Uribe had 1.

The Giants now advance to the National League Championship Series against the Philadelphia Phillies.  Game 1 is on Saturday in Philadelphia.  Tim Lincecum vs. Roy Halladay.

The Giants beat the Braves 1-0 behind Lincecum’s stellar performance.

Tim pitched 9.0 innings, gave up 2 hits, 1 walk, and 14 K’s.

Cody Ross had the Giants’ only RBI when he knocked in Buster Posey in the 4th inning.

Padres SuckThe Giants became NL West Champions on Sunday behind a great performance by Jonathan Sanchez, not only from his excellent pitching, but from the run he scored after hitting a triple in the 3rd inning.

The Padres are now officially eliminated from the playoffs and the Atlanta Braves are the NL Wild Card winners.

The playoff matchups are as follows:

American League:  Rangers at Rays 10/6/10, Yankees at Twins 10/6/10

National League:  Reds at Phillies 10/6/10, Braves at Giants 10/7/10

The Giants beat the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight to take a 2.0 game lead in the NL West over the San Diego Padres.

Jonathan Sanchez was solid and so was the Giants’ lineup.

The Rockies lost again and are officially eliminated from playoff contention.

The Giants are 89-68 and have 2 games left against Arizona, and then a 3-game series at home against the Padres to finish off the season.

The Giants are currently 1.0 game behind the Padres in the NL West and 1.0 game behind the Atlanta Braves in the Wild Card race.
